Kawanishi Rugby Tour
Kawanishi Rugby Tour
In the year 2000, Lindfield Junior Rugby Club (LJRC) established a touring relationship with the Kawanishi Rugby Club in Japan. The initial relationship was established between LJRC and Mr Kazuo Yoshioka, President for Life of Kawanishi Rugby School. The Kawanishi and Lindfield clubs’ Under 11s and 12s have subsequently visited each other in alternate years.
One of the highlights of being a member of the Lindfield Junior Rugby Club is participating in the Kawanishi Rugby tour experience.
Since 2000 these 2 clubs have formed a close bond and tour each year. This is an amazing social and cultural activity for both the parents and children. This tour is about more than just Rugby.
In The year 2014 the Kawanishi Rugby School will be touring to our Club from 26th July (Saturday) to the 4th August (Monday) inclusive. If your child is in the Under 10’s and Under 11’s this year, then this is your opportunity to get involved. If you and your child are interested in touring to Japan in 2015 you will need to be involved on the inbound tour this year.
The 2017 Tour by LJRC to Kawanishi is the 17th tour in which the clubs have participated. This year the Lindfield Rugby will be touring Kawanishi Japan in the October school holidays. If your child is registered in the Under 11’s and Under 12’s this year, they will be eligible to nominate to tour. We normally have a touring party of 12 boys plus their parent from each age group. The Club has been working through a formalized selection process, details of this are outlined in this spreadsheet . Shortly a registration of interest form will be sent out to each registered player in these age groups.
In 2018 Kawanishi Rugby School will be touring here, arriving Saturday 28 July. Will be a fun filled nine days!
In 2019 the Lindfield Rugby will be touring Kawanishi Japan in the October school holidays. If your child is registered in the Under 11’s and Under 12’s this year, they will be eligible to nominate to tour.
The inbound and outbound tours offer competitive rugby with matches against a range of schools and clubs both in Australia and Japan. They also offer a diverse and deep cultural experience to players and parents, both in hosting families and on tour.
In Japan, the LJRC touring party will play in four rugby gala days, visit the world famous sights of Kyoto and Nara, spend a day at Universal Studios in Osaka as well as visiting Hiroshima on a day trip. More importantly, whilst in Kawanishi the tourists will stay in the homes of local Japanese families, experience their culture, lifestyle, food and language, and build friendships for life.
The relationship with Kawanishi is very special to the Lindfield Junior rugby family, to its current and past players and parents alike.
